The Knappe Tunnel (Norwegian: Knappetunnelen) is a four-lane, twin-tube motorway tunnel partially finished, partially under construction in Bergen, Norway. The tunnel is part of County Road 557 and consists of the first and second stages of the four-lane motorway project Ring Road West. The tunnel is being built in two stages; the first stage, from Dolvik to Sandeide with a branch to Straume, stated in August 2006 and opened on 10 September 2010. Stage 2 will run from Sandeide to Liavatnet, where it will intersect with National Road 555. The first part of the tunnel is 2.6 kilometers (1.6 mi) long, while the second part is scheduled for completion in 2015.[1]
